INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM

PSYCHPROS OF KANSAS CITY

If you have not done an IOP program here is a little information about what to expect!

  • Group therapy helps individuals develop communication skills and socialization skills, and allows clients to learn how to express their issues and accept criticism from others.
  • Group therapy allows individuals to develop self-awareness by listening to others with similar issues.
  •  Expectations include sharing openly, providing feedback, and asking questions of your peers in group.

Please NOTE: If you are unable to attend group please send an email to your therapist or one of the group therapists that you can not attend. Missing 3 groups in a row is an auto discharge from group. This does not mean you can’t come back to group we just ask that you touch base with your therapist to discuss any concerns before you reenter.

Transition and Discharge

The average length of the program is 12 sessions.  Once these sessions are completed you will be provided a discharge plan to the appropriate level of care based on clinical symptoms.  This may include individual therapy, medication management, and other treatment to address unresolved issues from IOP.   At any time in the process, you may be referred to a higher level of care or a different IOP to address urgent clinical issues (I.e. substance abuse, eating disorder).   Once you are successfully discharged, you will be eligible for 3 aftercare IOP sessions at PsychPros.
